Peter Moran married Eliza Ann Gall (or Gaul) and had seven children, with William being the youngest. He married Evelyn Cooke, from Heaton Norris, Stockport in 1934 and had a son. 

William died in a rail accident whilst serving as an assistant steward at H.M.S. Ringtail near Bursclough in Lancashire.

Son of Albert Henry and Elizabeth Florence Garlick, of Cheadle Heath, Cheshire.

H.M.S. Dulverton (Commander Stuart Austen Buss, MVO, DSC) was sunk by a Hs 293 guided bomb launched from a German Do 217 E-5 aircraft from KG 100 off Kos. The glider bomb struck H.M.S. Dulverton abreast the bridge, inflicting serious damage and starting extensive fires.

The destroyer sustained heavy casualties, but six officers and 114 ratings were rescued before she was scuttled two hours later by H.M.S. Belvoir. Three officers, and 75 ratings were lost with H.M.S. Dulverton.

H.M. Motor Launch 358 was lost off Leros, Greece on 12 No 1943 with the loss of 11 crew.

KENNY J.

Son of John and Catherine Kenny, of Cheadle Heath, Cheshire.

At 00:15 hours on 12 Nov 1942, Type IXC U-515 (Kapitänleutnant Werner Henke) fired a spread of four torpedoes at H.M.S. Hecla (Acting Captain G.V.B. Faulkner), which was misidentified as a Birmingham-class cruiser and hit her in the engine room. Two torpedoes were surface-runners and the last also malfunctioned and was a circle-runner. The U-boat then hit the ship with three coups de grâce at 01:28, 01:49 and 02:06 hours, sinking the vessel west of Gibraltar.

At 02.11 hours, U-515 fired two torpedoes and badly damaged H.M.S. Marne which attempted to rescue the survivors. They were eventually picked up by H.M.S.Venomous and landed at Casablanca.

Son of Joseph and Elizabeth Murphy

stepson of Samuel Pickering, of Cheadle Heath, Cheshire.

H.M.S. Broke (Lieutenant Commander Arthur Frank Capel Layard) was damaged by gunfire from Vichy-French shore batteries off Algiers, Algeria during the Operation Torch in North Africa. H.M.S. Broke was later scuttled about 115 nautical miles west of Algiers.

Schoonselhof Cemetery in Antwerp Belgium, Plot III. Row D. grave 11.

Son of William and Catherine Barnes, of Reddish, Lancashire.

Died of wounds during Operation Infatuate at Westkapelle. Operation Infatuate was an amphibious assault on the island of Walcheren, off the coast of Holland, the capture of which was essential to the opening up of Antwerp as the major Allied supply port for the final push into Germany.

BRAMWELL A.

Royal Navy H.M.S. Laurentic (F51).

3 Nov 1940 aged 33.

Albert was the fourth of six sons of Joseph and Emily Bramwell (nee Young) and he married Mary Hulme in 1938 having a son born in 1940.

On 3 Nov 1940, H.M.S. Laurentic (Captain E.P. Vivian) an Armed Merchant Cruiser responded to a call for help from a ship that had been torpedoed by a U-boat. Arriving at the scene, she was targeted by two torpedoes from Type VIIB U-99 (Kapitänleutnant Otto Kretschmer).

The first hit the engine room and the second failed to detonate, a third torpedo hit her some time later. H.M.S. Laurentic fought back, but after four hours, she was struck again which sent her to the bottom, killing 49 of 416 people aboard.
